TOWNSHIP OF BRUCE
MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING HELD ON SEPTEMBER 13, 2007
The regular meeting of the Bruce Township Board was held on September 13, 2007 at the Bruce Township Hall with board members Gallagher, Marsh, Avery, Sawyers and LaJoie present. Absent none. Also in attendance were 4 township residents. The Supervisor called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance.
Public Comments: Judie Fischer ask if 6 Mile Rd. would be repaved where a culvert has been installed. She also inquired about the ponds on 13 Mile Rd.
The minutes of the regular meeting held on August 9, 2007 were presented. Motion was made by Marsh, seconded by Avery to approve the minutes as presented. All were in favor, motion carried.
Motion was made by Avery, seconded by LaJoie to pay the bills. Checks # 4612 through # 4648 were issued for a total of $ 50,307.10. All were in favor, motion carried.
County Commission Report: Commissioner LaJoie was absent.
Special Meetings: There were no special meetings.
Zoning Administrator: There were 7 permits issued this month. There have been 37 permits issued this year which is the same as last year at this time.
Planning Commission Report: The Planning Commission did not meet in September but will resume their meetings in October.
Treasurer’s Report: The Treasurers report was read. The balance of all funds is $505,128.25.
Clerk’s Report: The Senior Citizen Dinner will be held on October 6, 2007 at 5:30 p.m.
Elliot Heating & Cooling has completed the biannual maintenance on the furnace with everything okay.
A letter was read from Andree Watson, Soo Township Clerk, announcing the appointment of Larry Perron as Supervisor of Soo Township. Larry is filling the unexpired term of Jim Molitor who passed away July 27th.
A quote was received from Smith Sanitation for dumpster pickup. We need to check on our contract with Waste Management.
Firemen’s Report: The Department responded to 2 fires this month.
The pig roast will be October 20, 2007 from 2:00 to 7:00.
Grounds and Park Report: Our insurance company will be contacted in regards to putting fire pits at Dunbar.
Old Business: The Supervisor is still getting prices on doing some brush hogging at the township hall.
The kitchen window is bent and it was decided to get a price on a kitchen window that slides.
New Business: The pre-buy plan for Autore Oil is a capped rate of $1.85. The motion was made by Avery, seconded by Marsh to spend $6,000.00 in fuel between the Fire Hall and Township Hall since we still have a credit balance. All were in favor, motion carried.
Land Division was presented for Lois, Floyd and Joseph Colvin on Riverside Dr. and 11 Mile Rd. Motion was made by Marsh, seconded by Avery to accept the land division for Lois, Floyd and Joseph Colvin on Riverside and 11 Mile Rd. Motion carried.
Public Comments: There were no comments.
Motion was made by Avery, seconded by Marsh to adjourn the meeting. All were in favor, motion carried. The Supervisor adjourned the meeting at 7:37 p.m.
