The regular meeting of the Bruce Township Board was held on February 8, 2007 at the Bruce Township Hall with board members Gallagher, Marsh, Avery and Sawyers present. Absent LaJoie. Also in attendance were 6 township residents. The Supervisor called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance.

Public Comments: There were no comments.

The minutes of the regular meeting held on January 11, 2007 were presented. Motion was made by Marsh, seconded by Avery to approve the minutes as presented. All were in favor, motion carried.

Motion was made by Avery, seconded by Marsh to pay the bills. Checks # 4316 through # 4352 were issued for a total of $ 9,780.38. All were in favor, motion carried.

County Commission Report: Commissioner LaJoie was not present.

Reports of Special Meetings: There were no reports.

Zoning Administrator: The Complaint Form that was given to the Township Board for approval was tabled until the March meeting.

Planning Commission Report: The Planning Commission met on Tuesday, February 6, 2007.

The Master Plan was adopted unanimously by roll call vote.

Discussion was held on some amendments to the Zoning Ordinance, one in particular is to suspend the portion of the ground water monitoring for gravel pits.

The reclamation plan submitted by Bruce Burton for his gravel pit on 15 Mile Rd. did not come close to meeting the requirements. A response will be sent to Mr. Burton informing him of the requirements.

Treasurer’s Report: There was no report in the absence of the Treasurer.

Clerk’s Report: There will be a seminar in Marquette on March 13, 2007 and in Gaylord on March 21, 2007 on the ABC’s of Zoning Board of Appeals.

A Salary Resolution was presented by the Supervisor for an increase in wages from $13, 600.00 to $14,048.80. Motion was made by Marsh, seconded by Avery to accept the resolution. Roll Call vote – Aye, Marsh, Avery, Gallagher and Sawyers. No – 0. The Supervisor declared the resolution adopted.

A Salary Resolution was presented by the Clerk for an increase in wages from $12, 600.00 to $13,000.00. Motion was made by Marsh, seconded by Avery to accept the resolution. Roll Call vote - Aye, Marsh, Avery, Gallagher and Sawyers. No – 0. The Supervisor declared the resolution adopted.

The Treasurer did not present a Salary Resolution as she wishes no increase in wages. Motion was made by Gallagher, seconded by Marsh that we accept a resolution that she remain at $12,600.00. Roll Call vote – aye, Marsh, Gallagher, Avery and Sawyers. No – 0. Resolution was adopted.

Firemen’s Report: There was no report.

Grounds and Park Report: The grant application that was submitted was ineligible because we had no current Recreation Plan Public Hearing. Motion was made by Marsh, seconded by Avery to advertise our Recreation Plan for public hearing. All were in favor, motion carried

The Supervisor will be attending a grant school on February 14, 2007.

Old Business: The letter was written to the Sault Area School asking for the Bruce Township School records. There has been no response.

New Business: The following budget adjustments were made:

Motion was made by Sawyers, seconded by Avery to increase Clerk #728, Data Processing and Software by $344.00 and decrease # 694, Contingency by $344.00. Motion carried.

Motion was made by Sawyers, seconded by Marsh to increase Clerk #860, Mileage by $75.00 and decrease #694, Contingency by $75.00. Motion carried.

Motion was made by Sawyers, seconded by Gallagher to in crease #702 Election Salaries by $20.00 and decrease #694, Contingency by $20.00. Motion carried.

The Board of Review dates are March 12, 2007 from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. and March 13, 2007 from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.

Public Comments: John Underhill inquired about putting his law practice in his home and as to what the requirements would be.

Motion was made by Marsh, seconded by Avery to adjourn the meeting. All were in favor, motion carried. The Supervisor adjourned the meeting at 7:45 p.m.
